Instagram is checked through a paid service, so each visitor gets 5 paid lookups a day, shared with the Instagram and Facebook ID Finder. Checking the same name again soon does not use another one.

How to Check Username Availability

  1. Choose the platforms you care about. YouTube, TikTok, X and Telegram are on to start with; add Instagram or Facebook with one tap.
  2. Type the username (a profile link works too) and click Check Now.
  3. Each platform answers on its own row, with a link to see who has the name when it is taken.

What the Results Mean

  • Available: nobody uses the name on that platform right now.
  • Taken: an account already uses it. Open the link to see the account.
  • Not allowed: the name breaks that platform's username rules, for example a dot on X.
  • Check manually: the platform cannot be checked from here, so open the link to look yourself.
  • Couldn't check: the platform did not answer in time. Try again in a moment.

Username Rules on Each Platform

PlatformLengthAllowed characters
YouTube3–30Letters, numbers, dots, dashes and underscores
TikTok2–24Letters, numbers, underscores and dots; cannot end with a dot
InstagramUp to 30Letters, numbers, underscores and dots; no dot at the start or end, no two dots in a row
X (Twitter)4–15Letters, numbers and underscores only
Telegram5–32Letters, numbers and underscores; starts with a letter, cannot end with an underscore
Facebook5 or moreLetters, numbers and dots

The checker knows these rules, so a name that one platform does not allow is marked Not allowed for that platform only.

Tips for a Username That Works Everywhere

  • Use 5 to 15 letters and numbers, starting with a letter, with no dots, dashes or underscores. That fits the rules of every platform above.
  • Check all platforms before you commit, so your brand has the same name everywhere.
  • If your first choice is taken, try a short word before or after it (such as "hq", "official" or "tv") and check again.

Frequently Asked Questions

How accurate is this username checker?

YouTube, TikTok, X and Telegram are asked directly and Instagram is looked up through a data service, at the moment you click, so the answer shows what is true right now. If a platform does not answer you see "Couldn't check", and you can simply try again a moment later.

Why is Facebook "check manually"?

Facebook only shows profiles to people who are signed in, so it cannot be checked from here. You get a one-click link to open the name on Facebook yourself.

Why is Instagram limited?

Instagram is checked through a paid data service, so each visitor gets 5 paid lookups a day, and there is also a daily limit for all visitors together. When they are used up, Instagram shows a link to check the name yourself.

A name shows as available but the platform will not let me take it. Why?

Platforms hold back some names: names of recently deleted or banned accounts, reserved words, and on Telegram, names that are up for sale on Fragment. The platform always has the final word.

Do you keep the usernames I check?

We do not keep a list of the names you check. An Instagram answer is remembered for a few hours so the same check is not paid for twice, and then it is deleted.

Do I need an account?

No. The checker is free and works without signing up.
