Why does the Account ID matter?

Every social media account has a permanent unique ID assigned by the platform. Even if the username changes, this ID stays the same. During AccoSwap escrow transactions, account IDs are used to verify that the exact correct account is being transferred.

How to Find a Twitter User ID

  1. Copy the profile link (x.com/handle) or the link of a post, or type the @handle.
  2. Paste it into the box above and click Find ID.
  3. Check the account name next to the result, then click Copy ID.

What Is a Twitter (X) User ID?

Every X account has a numeric user ID that is set when the account is created. For example, the user ID of @elonmusk is 44196397. The @handle is only a name on top of that number: the owner can change it, but the user ID stays the same for good. Since the switch from Twitter to X the IDs have not changed, so old twitter.com links and IDs still match.

What the User ID Is Used For

  • Following an account after a rename: the ID stays the same when the handle changes.
  • The X API and apps: many tools look up accounts by user ID.
  • Buying or selling an account: the user ID proves which account is meant. On AccoSwap, escrow checks it before an account changes hands.

Frequently Asked Questions

Does a Twitter user ID change when the handle changes?

No. The user ID is given when the account is created and never changes. The @handle and the display name can be changed at any time.

Do twitter.com links still work?

Yes. Links from x.com, twitter.com and mobile.twitter.com all work, as well as plain @handles.

Can I paste a post (tweet) link?

Yes. Paste the link of any post and the tool returns the user ID of the account that posted it.

What happens with a suspended account?

X does not share the details of suspended accounts, so the tool tells you the account is suspended or unavailable instead of showing an ID.

Is this Twitter ID finder free?

Yes. It is free and needs no sign-up. There is a short per-minute limit so the tool stays fast for everyone.
